土と学び、人と繋がる。(Learn with clay, connect with people.)
Yaki-Manabi began with a single wheel and a dream: to create a space in Tokyo where the timeless traditions of Japanese ceramics and glass art could be shared in a fresh, accessible way. Founded by Kenji Tanaka, a master potter with decades of experience, and Akari Sato, a visionary glass artisan, our studio is a testament to the enduring beauty of handcrafted art. We envisioned a community hub where both seasoned artists and eager beginners could explore their creativity, guided by authentic expertise and surrounded by inspiring fellow makers. Our journey started in a small workshop in Setagaya and has blossomed into the vibrant studio we proudly call home in Higashi-Azabu today.
Our philosophy is rooted in 'wabi-sabi'—finding beauty in imperfection—and 'ma'—the powerful silence between things. We believe the true art lies not just in the finished piece, but in the mindful process of creation itself. Every lesson, every workshop, every shared moment in our studio is designed to foster a deeper connection to materials, community, and oneself. We invite you to be part of our story.
