Recycled Clay Program

At Yaki-Manabi, we reclaim 100% of our studio's clay scraps. Through a meticulous purification and blending process, we transform what would be waste into beautiful, unique clay bodies that our students then use to create new works of art, embodying a true circular economy.

Low-Impact Glazes

We are continuously researching and developing glazes that minimize our environmental footprint. This involves favoring natural ash glazes, responsibly sourced local minerals, and reducing reliance on harmful or heavily mined materials, creating stunning finishes with a clear conscience.

Efficient Firing Practices

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our kiln operations. Kilns are meticulously loaded to maximize space, and firing schedules are carefully planned and optimized for energy efficiency, reducing electricity consumption and our carbon footprint without compromising quality.

Water Conservation

Water is a precious resource, and our studio is designed with conservation in mind. We utilize advanced clay traps and implement a closed-loop water recycling process for cleaning tools and equipment, significantly reducing our water usage day-to-day.

私たちの哲学: もったいない (Mottainai)

「もったいない」 — A sense of regret concerning waste.

This profound Japanese cultural value, 'Mottainai,' is at the very heart of Yaki-Manabi's eco-friendly approach. We see waste not merely as an end, but as an exciting opportunity for new creation. Every scrap of clay holds latent potential, and we treat our planet's invaluable resources with the utmost respect and gratitude, transforming the discarded into cherished art.
